BARCELONA, Spain - Voters in Spain's Catalonia region began voting Sunday in an election whose outcome is likely to test Spanish unity at a time of deep economic crisis.?

Opinion polls show two-thirds of voters in this region on the French border will cast ballots for parties, both rightist and leftist, that want Catalan independence from Spain.

Catalan President Artur Mas will likely win re-election since his conservative Convergence and Union party is forecast to take a majority, some 62 to 64 seats, in the 135-seat regional assembly, or Parliament.

Frustration over high unemployment and a deep recession have fueled a separatist resurgence in Catalonia, where polls show that for the first time more than half of the people want to break away from Spain.

Many Catalans believe their economy would be more prosperous on its own, complaining that a high portion of their taxes go to the central government in Madrid.

Mas, who adopted the independence cause in September after a massive street demonstration, campaigned on a promise to hold a referendum on secession.

A strong mandate for Mas and other Catalan independence leaders from the left will undermine Rajoy's mission to persuade investors of Spain's fiscal and political stability.

Spain's deep recession and high public deficit have put it at the heart of the euro zone debt crisis and the government's borrowing costs are painfully high.

Alicia Sanchez-Camacho, the candidate for Rajoy's People's Party in Catalonia has campaigned on a message that leaving Spain and the European Union would lead to economic disaster. The PP is vying to be the second biggest party in the Catalan Parliament with opinion polls forecasting it will win 17 seats.

"Don't stay at home (on election day) if you don't want them to kick us out of Spain and out of Europe," she said at a campaign rally this week.

Polls were due to close at 8 p.m. local time (2 p.m. ET) Sunday.

For the first time since 1997, just six NFL teams have started 2-0: Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Houston Texans, Philadelphia Eagles, San Diego Chargers, and San Francisco 49ers.

With this group, it is unlikely we will be watching any ?Path to Perfection? run late into the season, which has been very competitive thus far with a record 20 teams at 1-1.

You can split the six 2-0 teams into three categories:

• The Texans and 49ers are Super Bowl-caliber. Both feature balance on both sides of the ball, and a track record of playoff success from last season.
• The Falcons and Chargers have been past Super Bowl favorites, but have enjoyed little-to-no playoff success. They meet in San Diego this Sunday.
• Then you have the Eagles and Cardinals, who also play each other this week. They have secured two of the most fortunate 2-0 starts in NFL history.

So. Philadelphia at Arizona. Worst 2-0 matchup ever?

Dating back to last season, Arizona is tied for the league's best record in its last 11 games (9-2). If that?s not enough, guess which team has the longest active winning streak? Yep. Philadelphia has won their last six games.

So why does this matchup have such a foul smell to it? Let?s review how they reached this point.

Philadelphia leads the league in offensive yards (942), first downs (51) and has the best defensive passer rating (35.1). That is a potent combo, and yet it just became the first team in NFL history to open the season with consecutive one-point victories.

Why have the Eagles cut it so close? They lead the league in giveaways with nine. That?s five in Cleveland and four more last week in the 24-23 win over Baltimore. It is no fluke either. The Eagles had 38 turnovers last season, which were the second most in the league. Their style of offense is high-risk, high-reward.

The fact that they are 2-0 is astounding when given the facts.

• The Eagles are the first team since the 1983 Los Angeles Rams to start 2-0 after turning the ball over at least four times in each game.
• The Eagles are one of 13 teams since 1940 to have a turnover differential of -3 or worse and still start 2-0.
• Michael Vick is the 51st quarterback since 1960 to throw at least six interceptions in his team?s first two games. He is just the third ? following AFL pass-happy legends Jack Kemp in 1964 and Daryle Lamonica in 1969 ? to have a 2-0 record.

How have the Eagles actually won? Vick has led late game-winning touchdown drives of 91 yards at Cleveland and 80 yards against Baltimore. Vick is the 14th quarterback since 1960 to lead a fourth quarter comeback and game-winning drive in each of his team?s first two games.

It is good to see the Eagles finish these drives after losing their last eight comeback opportunities dating back to Week 17 of the 2010 season. But to say they have been fortunate is an understatement.

Cleveland?s rookie linebacker L.J. Fort dropped a game-ending interception by Vick right before the touchdown, and the Ravens were hosed on a bad offensive pass interference penalty that would have given them a 27-17 lead with 5:29 left. Instead the Eagles come out on top with one-point victories.

The Cardinals know all about fortunate wins. They tied the NFL record with four overtime wins in 2011. They also tied the NFL record with eight wins in a season resulting from a game-winning score in the fourth quarter or overtime. Their last eight games have been decided by no more than seven points.

On Sunday, they picked up a signature win in New England. After looking like they would fall victim to another Tom Brady comeback, the defense held, preventing the Patriots from tying the game late on a two-point conversion.

What followed was a series of errors from both teams, with incredible momentum swings that made you think one team was going to win the game, only for something catastrophic to happen. After Ryan Williams fumbled the ball on a 3rd-and-13 run, the Patriots were in great position.

Having their touchdown wiped away by a Rob Gronkowski holding penalty, the Patriots relied on accurate kicker Stephen Gostkowski to win the game with a 42-yard field goal. He was wide left, and Arizona was 2-0.

How fortunate was the miss? The Patriots have been the gold standard in clutch kicking, starting with Adam Vinatieri?s run. From 2000 to 2011, the Patriots were 29 of 31 (93.5 percent) on clutch field goals in the fourth quarter and overtime. They have not had to stew over a loss because of a missed field goal since December 26, 1999 versus Buffalo.

In Week 1, the Cardinals had to come back in the fourth quarter to beat Seattle, and did so with Kevin Kolb coming off the bench to engineer the game-winning drive. With rookie Russell Wilson having an opportunity to be the hero, his fourth-down pass went through Braylon Edwards? hands with 0:18 left. Arizona won 20-16.

Hard to believe based on preseason expectation and regular season performance, but either the Cardinals or Eagles will be 3-0 after Sunday?s game. Well, that is barring a tie, in which the last two NFL ties have involved Andy Reid (2008 Eagles at Bengals) and Michael Vick (2002 Falcons at Steelers).

After our conversation, I began to think about some of the similar problems of struggling teenagers and those of struggling information marketing entrepreneurs.

There are two things I believe are stopping some people from having the successful online business they want to create in their life:

1. Lack of Results-Oriented Effort

Teenager ? Many teenagers live with an entitlement attitude. They believe simply because they exist or did a minimum amount of effort, they deserve things they have not earned.

Struggling Entrepreneur ? Same thing with many internet marketers. There is a world of difference between planning the actions you will take and actually taking the action once you?ve made your plans and getting things done. Many people delude themselves into thinking that planning things in their head is enough and never get into the small, daily, consistent, unsexy actions that would yield results.

Solution: Stop looking for the magic pill. It does not exist. And even seemingly ?magic pills? have unwanted side effects. Effort and energy is required to be a success in anything. Creating the habit of sustained effort and action-taking starts with planning but does not end there. Make sure you follow through on those plans until you?ve developed a huge action-taking muscle in your online business. On a regular basis, look back and evaluate the results you?re getting from those actions.

2. Lack of Personal Experience

Teenager ? Teenagers have little or no experience in many of life?s obstacles and gaining that firsthand experience is what turns them into productive, healthy, well rounded adults.

Struggling Entrepreneur ? In the same way, many people who want to start an information marketing business want to teach subjects they have absolutely no experience or success in! You simply cannot teach abundance and prosperity if you are living paycheck to paycheck. You cannot teach inner peace if you send angry, reactive emails and can?t control your temper with your family.

Solution: Teach only what you truly know. Do not attempt to teach what you do not have experience in. You cannot help people and you will not be successful. Gain the experience necessary to become a great teacher by finding a coach or mentor who has been successful in that area. Then, you got it?! Make the sustained effort to gain the experience necessary to be a teacher in that subject.

Republican candidate Mitt Romney made a bold choice in picking Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) to be his VP candidate.

According to the New York Times, based on his Congressional voting record, Ryan is one of the most extreme VP candidates in the past century, on either side of the aisle. The standard political strategy is for the VP candidate to be closer to the center, but the Romney campaign is betting that energizing the right-wing "base" of the party will help the ticket win in November.

Bold choices are also risky choices, however, and Romney-Ryan's views on how the country should deal with its budget deficit may alienate many Americans, especially those in the middle class.

Before diving into the details, it's important to note that Paul Ryan deserves credit for publishing a specific deficit reduction proposal. Unlike other Congress-folk, who eagerly condemn America's budget mess but offer no specific solutions for it, Ryan was brave enough to actually publish a plan.

Ryan's basic premise in his budget proposal is right: The country's current fiscal path is unsustainable and if we do nothing, we're screwed. You can disagree with Ryan's future assumptions and how he proposes to solve the problem (many Americans will very much disagree), but at least he's acknowledging the problem and offering a solution. The Democrats, meanwhile, and even Mitt Romney, just keep making vague references to the need for deficit reduction.

It's time both sides acknowledge the fiscal crisis, publish their respective proposals and start making hard choices. Ryan deserves credit for sticking his neck out.

So what will the Romney-Ryan plan mean for average Americans?

The pair have not released a unified economic proposal, but combining the details of their prospective plans gives us a general picture.

The Romney-Ryan economic plan will likely:

• Cut income and corporate taxes
• Eliminate at least some tax deductions (neither candidate has mentioned specific ones)
• Preserve defense spending
• Cut Medicare spending
• Trim other government spending
• Gradually shrink the budget deficit but not balance the budget for a least a decade

At a more detailed level, the Romney-Ryan plan will likely lead to the highest-income Americans paying less in taxes, while making lower- and middle-income Americans pay more (through elimination of tax deductions that disproportionately help these Americans). Earlier this year, the Tax Policy Center found that Romney's tax plan would reduce effective tax rates for the the richest Americans and raise them for the poorest.

The Romney-Ryan plan will also likely cut Medicare benefits, which disproportionately help lower- and middle-class Americans. According to a Congressional Budget Office analysis of Ryan's proposal, the Medicare reform could lead to higher out-of-pocket healthcare costs for seniors, reduced access to care, reduced quality of care, increased efficiency and less investment in higher-cost procedures.

There is no question that the country's current budget deficit and spending trajectory is unsustainable, and Romney and Ryan deserve credit for acknowledging this and putting forth specific proposals to deal with it. The Democrats should now do the same thing. And then an open debate can begin about which hard choices the country wants to make.
